True Bruin Values Recognition Terms

THE RECOGNIZER: True Bruin Values Recognition Submission Terms

Thank you for taking the time to recognize a fellow Bruin and share how they brought UCLA’s True Bruin Values to life.

By submitting a recognition through the True Bruin Values Recognition Program, you agree to the following terms.

Your Participation Is Voluntary

Participation in the True Bruin Values Recognition Program is voluntary. By submitting a recognition, you agree to these terms and to UCLA’s Privacy and Terms of Use.

Your Recognition Story

By submitting your recognition, you give The Regents of the University of California (“University”), by and on behalf of its UCLA campus, permission to review, reproduce, edit, publish, display, and share the story and other content you submit (“Content”) for purposes related to the True Bruin Values Recognition Program and UCLA communications. 

UCLA may make reasonable edits to Content for length, clarity, grammar, accessibility, or formatting while preserving the meaning and spirit of your recognition.

Submission does not guarantee that recognition will be published or otherwise featured, but will be sent to the person you recognize, either anonymously or with your name, based on your selection. The University reserves the right to refuse to forward any submission/recognition that does not meet the submission requirements.

Permission from the Person Recognized

Submitting a recognition does not grant UCLA permission to publicly identify or feature the person you are recognizing. UCLA may contact that individual separately to request permission before publishing their name, image, recognition story, or other identifying information.

A person may still be recognized through the program even if they choose not to have their recognition shared publicly.

Your Submission

By submitting Content, you confirm that you have the right to submit the material you provide and that, to the best of your knowledge, it does not infringe upon the rights of another person.

Please do not include confidential, private, sensitive, or personally identifiable information about yourself or others that is not necessary to tell the recognition story.

Use of submitted recognition content 

You grant the University and its officers, employees, agents, vendors, licensees, and assignees a worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, edit, adapt, publish, publicly display, distribute, archive, and create derivative works from the Content for purposes related to the True Bruin Values Recognition Program, UCLA communications, and the promotion of UCLA’s values and community.

Permission to share your information

By selecting “Yes, UCLA may share my participation” below, you give The Regents of the University of California (“University”), by and on behalf of its UCLA campus, permission to use, reproduce, edit, publish, publicly display, distribute, and archive information about your participation in the True Bruin Values Recognition Program for purposes related to the program, UCLA communications, and the promotion of UCLA’s values and community.

Your permission applies to information about you and your participation as the person giving recognition. UCLA will separately request permission from the person you recognized before publicly identifying or featuring them.

You may participate in the True Bruin Values Recognition Program without agreeing to have your name or participation shared publicly. Your choice will not affect your participation in any applicable appreciation drawing.

By selecting “Yes, UCLA may share my recognition” below, you give The Regents of the University of California (“University”), by and on behalf of its UCLA campus, permission to use, reproduce, edit, publish, publicly display, distribute, and archive your True Bruin Values recognition for purposes related to the True Bruin Values Recognition Program, UCLA communications, and the promotion of UCLA’s values and community.

This permission may include use of your:

UCLA may make reasonable edits to the recognition story for length, clarity, grammar, accessibility, or formatting, while preserving the recognition’s meaning and spirit.

Your recognition may appear on UCLA websites and in other UCLA communications, including newsletters, email, social media, digital displays, presentations, and other print and digital communications.

You understand that you will not receive compensation for UCLA’s use of the recognition or materials you voluntarily provide.

True Bruin Values Recognition Program Appreciation Drawing

Participation in the True Bruin Values Recognition Program may make both the person submitting the recognition and the person being recognized eligible for a periodic appreciation drawing, subject to the program’s eligibility requirements.

The drawing is intended as a small thank-you for participation. Recognition through the program is not an award or competition, and selection in the drawing does not indicate that one recognition is more deserving than another.

Permission to publicly share a recognition or participation in a recognition is not required for participation in any applicable appreciation drawing.

Fall submissions, September 10, 2026, through Dec 11, 2026

Winter submissions, Jan 4, 2027, through March 19th, 2027 

Drawing March 23, 2027

Spring submissions, March 2, 2027, through June 11, 2027 

Drawing June 15, 2027

Summer submissions, June 21, 2027, through September 10, 2027 

Drawing September 14, 2027

Appreciation Gift

10 winners will be drawn, and each winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card (for a total prize value of $250USD, calculated at the start of the True Bruin Values Recognition Program per quarter.

No purchase requirement

No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win the Appreciation Drawing.

Odds

The odds of winning ​will depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Withdrawing of consent

You may revoke your consent at any time by submitting a request to remove@stratcomm.ucla.edu. Please place “TBV” or “True Bruin Values” in the subject line to help ensure a timely removal from the program. Upon receiving this request, we will make reasonable efforts to discontinue any future use and remove your story, image, or other submitted materials from websites, social media accounts, and other channels under Strategic Communications’ control.

Please understand that materials may have already been published, shared, reposted, downloaded, or otherwise distributed before your consent is withdrawn. While we will take reasonable steps to remove materials from channels within our control, we cannot guarantee the removal of copies or content that has been shared, reproduced, archived, or otherwise made available through third-party platforms, social media, search engines, or other sources outside our control.
